From Acknowledgement to Action: A Reconciliation Journey
Free admission. Ticket purchase still required.
September 30th is a day of awareness and commemoration for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, also known of as Orange Shirt Day. It focuses on the 94 Calls to action, brings awareness to the history of the Residential School System and that we cannot have reconciliation without truth. This year, in partnership with the County of Leduc, City of Leduc and Creating Hope Society, we will be hosting a couple documentary screenings, including “Honour to Murray Sinclair”. There will also be a panel discussion and photography exhibition to bring awareness to the Indian Residential Schools and recognize the impact of the 60’s Child Welfare Scoop. We encourage the community to come out, gain more insight into what Truth and Reconciliation means, and what we can all do day-to-day to bring awareness to those around us.
We will also be presenting the Truth and Reconciliation Recognition Award, in which the TRC committee will recognize an individual for their contributions to fostering change and advancing the goals of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This award celebrates those dedicated to promoting reconciliation and inspiring positive actions in our communities.
